My Nordic Dolls are inspired by colorful, Dala Horses. In Sweden Dala horses have been handmade for hundreds of years. During the long winters the men would carve the wooden horses for their children and the women would paint them. When I make handmade toys for my friends and family I love thinking about the people in the past who have done the same.
While the pattern is titled Christmas Dolls, I want to personally acknowledge and celebrate all who observe the December holidays, including Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Epiphany, as well as Christmas!

To make your own Scandinavian Doll you’ll need:
One 12mm wooden bead for the head
One pipe cleaner for the body
Scrap yarn
A set of dpns
One free evening

  • A BIG thanks to all my wonderful test knitters!
