Scandinavian Hjerte Mitten Ornament
You will need:
3.0mm dpns
Scrap yarn in two contrasting colors (Aran weight; I use Léttlopi from Istex: www.istex.is)
Tapestry needle
A small piece of waste yarn or a safety pin
Gauge and yarn weight does not really matter. This is a useful pattern to practice fair isle with small motifs and use up left over yarn (and makes a cute ornament gift). Could also be used for a backpack charm. (Personally I buy those mini liquor bottles, or nail polishes, and stuff those in the mini mittens and give them as gifts.)
The pattern contains charts that are read right-to-left. You can change the mitten’s chirality (handedness) by moving the thumb.
A note on abbreviations (nothing crazy, just your normal stuff):
K- knit
P- purl
M - Make 1
CO - Cast On
PU - Pick Up
/ - k2tog
\ - slip 1, knit 1 psso (pass slipped stitch over)
