Though theoretically a scarf, the subtle angling along the edges of the border suggests the narrowest of shawls. Inspired by Katherine Matthews’ design work, this scarf pairs a traditionally crocheted border with a Tunisian simple-stitch-and-purl body.

The border is worked first; afterward, the body is picked up in Tunisian crochet row by row.

String Theory Caper Sock offers the perfect combination of stitch definition and graceful movement. One skein makes a generous scarf.

Additional gauge information: 16 dc in row 5 of border and 4 rows of border = 3”, blocked.
