pattern! This triangle wrap features lace, fun little textured stitches, color work, and a lovely ribbed border. The full story of the inspiration for this pattern - the Scarlet Tanager bird - is waiting for you on the first page of the pattern.

This piece works so well as a shawl, but can also be worn about the neck as an accent piece to bring a wave of color to any outfit! It’s a fun knit with just enough in the way of interesting stitches to keep you headed toward a beautiful finished object.

Yarn: Sock weight yarn in six colors.
The sample was made with the following:
MadTosh Twist Light –
A Blood Runs Cold 430 yds
B Onyx 85 yds
C Antler 50 yds
D Cactus Flower 290 yds
E Firewood 110 yds
G Birkenstick 275 yds

Old Rusted Chair Sock –
F Last Call 70 yds

Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm) 32” circular needles
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle

GAUGE
22 sts and 34 rows = 4” in Stockinette stitch after blocking.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
After blocking, and depending on how aggressively you
block:
Wingspan: Approx. 72”
Length at center: Approx. 32”

CONSTRUCTION NOTE
This shawl is knit from the center back neck down to the
lower edge.

STITCHES, ABBREVIATIONS & TERMS
A, B, C, ETC – Indicates color used
K – Knit
K3TOG – Knit 3 sts together
M1L - Make 1 Left: Insert left needle, from front to back,
under strand of yarn which runs between next st on left
needle and last st on right needle; knit this st through back
loop. 1 st increased.
M1R - Make 1 Right: Insert left needle, from back to front,
under strand of yarn which runs between next st on left
needle and last st on right needle; knit this st through front
loop. 1 st increased.
MP – Make poppcorn: Knit next st, but do not drop from left needle, yarn over, knit into same st again, drop from left
needle, slip first st and yarn over over last st knit.
P – Purl
PM – Place marker
RS – Right side
REP – Repeat
SL – Slip
SM – Slip marker
SSSK – Slip 3 sts individually as if to knit, then knit those 3
sts together through the back loops
ST – Stitch
WS – Wrong side
YO – Yarn over
