An easy to knit cardigan with a beginner-friendly pattern with a classy touch to become an elegant addition to your wardrobe.

Construction: Scarlett cardigan is knitted flat and top down seamlessly in one piece. When the raglan increases are done, you separate the sleeve stitches, and continue knitting the body while creating the buttonholes simultaneously. After the body is knitted up, the sleeve stiches—that were on hold— will be picked up, and the sleeves will be knitted in the round. The sides and bottom edges are made of simple, yet neat borders. At the end, you will knit the lace collar, and attach it to the body.

Sizing: Scarlett cardigan comes in 19 sizes covering bust sizes from 70 cm (27.5 inch) to 160 cm (63 inch). Thanks to the stretchiness of the textured stitch pattern, the fitted cardigan needs no positive ease. In the photos, I’m wearing my Scarlett cardigan with ~7cm of negative ease. The sizes below correspond to the measurements of the cardigan after blocking. Choose from the size below your bust circumference.

Sizes: A- B- C- (D- E- F)- G- H- I- (J- K- L)- M- N- O- (P- Q- R)- S

Gauge: 20 sts* 32 rows in the textured stitch pattern after wet-blocking = 10 cm* 10 cm (4 inch 4 inch).

Yarn choice: Sport weight yarn, provided that it gives you the required gauge. Non-superwash yarns are better fitted for this texture. Additionally, the yarn for this pattern should be 2-ply at minimum. The higher the ply, the more pronounced the texture! The sample is made using Latta from Queen City Yarn in Scarlet colourway, which is a 3-plied non-superwash yarn. Its roundness creates a pronounced texture.

Required yarn amount: The yarn requirements below are approximates of the minimum amount of a sport weight yarn to knit a semi-cropped cardigan (refer to above-mentioned cardigan length). The approximate yarn requirement for every additional buttonhole (~3 cm/ 1 inch) is also listed below. To prevent stress, please ensure to have extra yarn than the approximate amounts.

Sizes: A- B- C- (D- E- F)- G- H- I- (J- K- L)- M- N- O- (P- Q- R)- S

Required meterage (meters): 855- 885- 940- (997- 1025- 1085)- 1140- 1200- 1225- (1310- 1355- 1425)- 1470- 1510- 1570- (1640- 1710- 1800)- 1855

Required yarn weight (gram): 300- 310- 330- (350- 360- 380)- 400- 420 - 430-(460- 475- 500)- 515- 530- 550- (575- 600- 630)- 650

Required yarn weight for every additional 3cm/1 inch: 11- 12- 13-(13- 14- 15)- 16- 16- 17- (18- 18- 19)- 20- 21- 21-(22- 22- 24)- 24

Recommended needle: Circular or straight needle 3.5 mm (US 4) for the main body, and circular or double-pointed needle 4 mm (US 6) for the sleeves. Please kindly note that based on your chosen yarn and your personal knitting tension, the needle size that you would need to achieve the required gauge might be different from the suggested ones.

Notions: 10 or more buttons, tapestry needle, removable stitch markers in different colors (and ideally different shapes), and one unique stitch marker!
