skill level: advanced beginner includes automatic stitches calculator
Use any yarn weight, no need to match gauge, choose your own yarn and the stitches calculator will do all the math for you~~
With the help of my stitches calculator, this made-to-measure pattern will be customized to your own body measurement, which means it is 100% size inclusive so you can easily make adult version or child version using this pattern!
If you have been following me for a while, you might notice the silhouette of this design because this pattern is written based on the wedding top that I actually wore on my wedding on 2023❤
Had to modified some stitches to accomodate all body type, but the pattern is finally here! Now, you can also make your own version too~
Say hello to SCARLETTOP!
it is a quick size inclusive crochet top project that is going to be your staple outfit all summer long!
And, as it is constructed top to bottom, you can try the piece as you crochet and easily adjust the top’s length along the way.
With repetitive and addicting textured stitches, I bet you will get this project done in no time~
plus, with the closed-back detail, you will be able to wear regular bra comfortably too

About this pattern:
• Pattern is written in English with standard US terms.
• As I am a right-handed, this pattern is written with right-handed crocheters in mind, left-handed crocheters should crochet in different direction.
• This pattern is NOT SUITABLE for very beginner crocheters (would not advise this for your very first crochet garment project, advanced beginner and above might find this pattern easy-to-follow)
• This piece does not require major sewing (you will only need to sew the straps).
• This piece will have halter neck silhouette with closed back.
• This piece will have fitted fit around the bust (you don’t have to add ease to any of the measurements, the calculator will automatically calculate it for you)
• You can make a cinched waist silhouette with elastic thread.
• As it is worked top to bottom (starting from you neck), you can always add the torso length along the way.
p.s: I know some might say that my written pattern looks so intimidating because of the oh so many pages
and the supplementary calculator. But don’t worry, this long pdf file means there are tons of
step by step picture and diagrams to help you get through it.
++ with the excel spreadsheet, you won’t need to do math, the calculator will do it for you
(because I know, I am not the only one who hate math, and I am not the only one who are just too lazy to match gauge).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DIGITAL
CROCHET PATTERN AND TUTORIAL ONLY,
NOT A FINISHED ITEM / PRODUCT.
There will be NO physical item, product, material or tools to be send.
All the pattern and instruction is written in English, using standard US terms.
Materials & tools needed:
• ANY YARN WEIGHT WORKS
• Crochet Hook that is the recommended size for your yarn weight and second crochet hook that is one size larger (one size larger means 3.00 mm and 3.50 mm, 4.00mm and 4.50 mm, etc).
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
• Measuring tape / ruler
• elastic thread / elastic band (optional)
• 1 piece of button (diameter 0.8 cm – 1.2 cm), this is optional you can chose the tie-up closure
Yarn usage based on my measurement (bust 81 cm, waist 69 cm)
- Cropped top version (women bust size S): top height 34 cm, I used approximately 200g of #3 DK weight pure cotton yarn, used 4.00mm hook
- Cropped top version (women bust size S): top height 32 cm, I used approximately 140g of #0 lace weight cotton bamboo yarn + 2 strands of glitter thread, used 2.00mm hook
Note: if you use pure cotton yarn, the weight will be doubled as it is heavier than cotton blend and acrylic blend.
(How much yarn you required is highly depends on the yarn weight, yarn type, crochet hook size, your tension, body measurements, etc. I put the detailed info on how much yarn does each testers used in the lookbook)
Yarn recommendation:
- Heavier weight yarn will create wider grid, boxier and more constructed piece, works best for cropped top version with straight bottom.
- Lighter weight yarn will create smaller grid and the drape will be flowy.
- Cotton and cotton blend yarn is highly recommended for this piece because cotton yarn usually holds more shape (more constructed) and creates more defined stitches.
- If you are going to make toddler / child / teen size, would highly recommend you to use #0 lace weight or #1 fingering weight for better drape
Crochet hook referenc, the hook that I used to make my Scarlett:
- #0 lace weight cotton blend yarn + 2 strands of glitter thread: 2.50 mm for FC, 2.00 mm for everything else
- #1 fingering weight cotton blend yarn + 2 strands of glitter thread: 2.50 mm for FC, 2.00 mm for everything else
- #3 DK weight pure cotton yarn: 4.50 mm for FC, 4.00 mm for everything else
