The Scarlino shawl is simple, elegant, lacy, and has an multi-dimensional element. Worked from a center foundation single crochet chain to mirror the stitch pattern on each side, you will also add length by working on the short sides of this stole. It includes changing color even though you can choose to make it in only one.

Gauge is not crucial for this project and the size can easily be adjusted by adding or subtracting pattern repeats on any of the sides. Just plan on getting more yarn than indicated if you want this shawl bigger. This shawl is reversible. It looks great on both sides.

This project will help you use stitches you would learn in a beginners’ class, as well as read and follow a pattern, change yarn color and work in multiple directions. It will also challenge you and help you improve without being too complex.
