Worked in the recommended yarn it measures about 5 cm across.

Gauge does not really apply, a different yarn will result in a different sized patch. Make sure to use a hook that produces a dense fabric!

Of the recommended yarn, just a few meters will be enough. You will need three different colour for the shell, head, tail and legs and black to embroider the eyes on.
