Scholarly Socks are an all-over colorwork sock pattern. They include a twisted rib at the cuff and a heel-flap-and-gusset. The pattern is charted, with tips and notes along the way.

Yarn:
You will need two contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn.
Main color (MC): Approximately 150 - 200 yards
Contrasting color (CC): Approximately 80 - 100 yards

Needles:
I used a US 1 / 2.25 mm circular needle using the magic loop method to knit the entire sock. You could also use double-pointed needles instead of a circular needle, if you prefer. Choose a needle size that will achieve the desired gauge. Since the pattern is written for a fixed number of stitches, you can adjust the gauge (simply by using smaller or larger needles) to create a smaller or larger gauge to thus decrease or increase the circumference of the sock.

Gauge:
Measure the gauge in stockinette stitch worked in the round.
There should be 18 stitches and 10 rows in 2 inches.

Other Materials:

  • 2 stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
