School Spirit Beanie
Show your school spirit with this beautifully textured beanie. Use your creativity to change colors at any point in the hat or follow one of two special color changes written into the pattern. It’s like getting three patterns for the price of one! Also included are instructions for a fleece lined brim that make this hat a best seller. The fleece brim also means you do not have to use the softest yarn available because it is the fleece that will be touching the ears. It also makes the School Spirit hat a great stash buster for small color changes.
It can be difficult to find a pattern that works for both men and women, but this one has you covered! Without a pom this beanie works great for guys!
This is an intermediate pattern due to the many different stitches required to achieve the texture, but don’t let that scare you - Youtube has plenty of tutorials and photos are included in the pattern for the shallow front post/back post stitch.
The hat is crocheted from the brim up so you can ensure a perfect fit from the get go. The stitches in the brim have the perfect amount of stretch so you can pre-make these to sell at craft shows or online without anyone trying it on first. There isn’t a gauge guide or certain number of stitches per round because it will depend on the circumference of the head.
Suggested chain amounts for different size heads ARE included, but it is recommended that you measure the head (and over the ears) of who will be wearing it and make your chain that long plus 1/2-1 inch.
The hat shown in the cover image was made with Vanna’s Choice, but any worsted weight yarn will work. A customer favorite is Deborah Norville’s Premier Every Day Yarn in the Heather colorways.
