Schorle Top is a basic summer top. It’s designed with a combination of wide straps (perfect for covering bra straps), deep scoop neck and side slits on the bottom.
Schorle is a great summer drink consisting of wine, water and lemon, it’s very light and perfect for hot summer days, the same is Schorle Top – it’s great for in-city or vacay everyday wear and perfectly pairs with all summer outfits.
This top is worked top down so you can adjust the length as desired while working on it. You can use your favorite summer yarn, like cotton or linen, silk yarn or any summer blend of yarn. This top can be a great travel project too as it’s mostly worked in mindless Stockinette with top down construction.

Schorle top is worked top down and seamlessly. Start working back yoke back and forth in rows to underarms. Once the back yoke is ready, left and right front shoulders are picked up separately and neck is shaped with increases. When the neck is ready, both fronts are joined together and worked to underarms. Then join back and front yokes and work in the round to the bottom. Bottom edge is divided to work back and forth in rows and formed slits on the sides. The last touch– finish neckline, armholes and bottom edge with i-cord bind off for a more polished look.

Needles
Circular 3.5 mm (US 4) 80 – 100 cm (32 – 40)’’ long for body;
Optionally – Dpns 3.5 mm (US 4) for I-cord bind-off.
Notions: tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers, scrap yarn or stitch holders.

Original yarn
Approx 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6) balls / 150 (200, 200, 250, 250, 300, 300) g of Cotton Lilit (100% cotton; 50g / 1.8oz – 165m / 180yds);
If you decide to make the top longer, you will need more yarn than estimated.
Yardage: approx 510 (550, 610, 680, 760, 840, 930) m / 558 (601, 667, 744, 831, 918, 1017) yds of similar sport weight yarn.
Suggested yarn: sport or light dk weight yarn to obtain the required gauge.

Gauge
22 sts x 30 rnds = 10cm (4’’) in St st back and forth in rows and in the rnd after blocking.
Take time to check your gauge before starting your project.
If you can’t obtain gauge in stitches and in rows/rnds in the same time – it’s more important to obtain gauge in stitches and you can adjust row gauge (length) according to measurements in cm/inches.

Techniques used: Long tail cast on, knitting in the round and flat, M1R and M1L increases, k2tog and ssk decreases, backward loop cast on, pick up stitches, i-cord bind off.
