Scintillating Dreams Mandala
A pattern born out of the necessity of having to use small bits of cotton yarn left over after a hectic year of designing mandalas!
This pattern uses 8 colors with no color exceeding 30 yds! The instructions follow US terminology and have notes accompanying to help with the placement of stitches. Some rounds are worked into stitches or spaces created in one round below to give it a layered look! The wrong side (pic #3) is equally worthy of showing off !
The mandala will ruffle but settles to a nice clean flat piece once you block it.
The sample was made with Laura Knitting cotton available in India. The following yarns can be substituted:
Lion Brand 24/7
Big Twist 4 ply cotton
Peaches and Cream 4 ply cotton
Paintbox Aran Cotton
Other Indian Cotton yarns such as Cotton from YarnKart, Cotton Dreamz from Vardhman, Anchor 4 ply Knitting Cotton can also be substituted.
The pattern works well with fingering weight cotton such as Anchor knitting cotton and 2 mm hook but the finished size reduces to 6” in diameter.
The mandala can be displayed either as a table top or hung on a frame to grace a wall / widow or balcony!
