These kids flip-top mittens have a three-row stripe pattern and are knitted in worsted weight yarn. The original samples were knitted for a five-year-old boy on size 2 and 3 needles. They measure 6” from cuff to tip with a 7” palm circumference. Other sizes can be achieved by increasing or decreasing needle size and adjusting yarn weight.

The three-row stripe pattern is convenient for counting rows and keeping track of increases and decreases, but could be eliminated for a simpler mitten.

Skills: Knit, purl, cast on, bind off, pick up stitches, basic increases and decreases, Kitchener stitch. Sample shown used tubular cast ons and bind offs but any cast-ons and bind offs will do.
