This shawl was originally named Brenda’s Garden and I never want to forget that but it definitely needed to be renamed because it’s honour was stolen.

We knit for people we love and originally this shawl was designed for someone I thought was a wonderful woman. I thought she was loving and kind and I appreciated her in many ways. I wanted to give her a gift to say thank you for helping my husband when he was far from home and this was it, BUT .. she spoiled this gift. She HAD an affair with my husband. She ruined the honour of this beautiful shawl and the heartfelt love and respect with which it had been knit.

So .. for every woman that has been disrespected, for every marriage that has been threatened by the “snake in the grass” .. I give you SCORNED. Knit it with contempt but wear it with pride.

The body is a simple garter stitch with a yarn over twisted edge to offset the lace on the opposite side, while the lace edge is a pretty willow leaf stitch that is easy for a beginner and easily remembered for a more advanced knitter. It can be left unadorned or beaded for a touch of bling.

It is a lovely, simple pattern that is great for learning lace or beading techniques. It’s also easy enough for an advanced knitter to memorize the lace section.

It is not so much a pattern as it is a “recipe”. It can be easily adjusted to make a scarf, crescent shawlette or full shawl. You decide!!!

I happened to use fingering but I think it could be knit in most yarns that drape well.

Chart only at the moment.
