This is the perfect pattern for someone who loves Scotland and quick easy knits. Designed for my 6 year old, this is easily adapted for any size of adult - simply repeat the chart to the size required. As my boy is a big fan of the Celtic football team (their colours are green and white stripes) that’s what I used as the background to the Saltire (the Saltire is the name of the Scottish flag) design. You can use any colours for the stripes that you like though you need to use white and blue for the flag itself, to be authentic.
It’s a great stash buster. I used under 50g and made this the exact thickness we wanted with two strands of spare DK (the back stranding makes it even warmer), but it would work well with any weight of wool with some adjustment to needle size for lighter ones - suggest you use something soft though. I’ve lost too many knits to cries of “It’s too scratchy!”
This cowl has a few rows of ribbing to make it easier to pop over struggling heads and is pretty stretchy which is why I have been a bit vague over gauge….
