This asymmetrical triangular shawl is knit from bottom border up to the top edge. The border is cast on and knit back and forth. Once the border is completed, stitches for the body of the shawl are picked up along the top edge. The body of the shawl is worked in a textured and lace pattern. The shawl is shaped with decreases along one edge of the triangle and is meant to be worn on the bias.

The shawl is knit using one half-skein of Wooly Wonka Fibers Arianrhod Sock, approximately 217 yards, (the darkest green) and one full gradient skein, 435 yards.

The Scots Pine was associated with the Solstice/Yule festivals and the start of the new year. Paired with the fir tree, these evergreens closed out the old and welcomed in the new each turning of the calendar. Medicinally, Scots pine needle infusions are both antiseptic and antibacterial and were used to treat cuts or wounds throughout the Middle Ages.

This shawl is the sixth in a 6-part pattern series featuring lace patterns for the Wooly Wonka Fibers Herbarium Club - Lace 2017. An ebook collection of all 6 of the patterns (with patterns released every other month during the course of 2017) is also available for download. It is also available as a kit through The Yarn Guys as part of their Ogham Trees series.
