Scottish Galway Shawl
This pattern is
available from patterns.on-arran.com
for $9.99.
Scottish Galway Shawl is a memory of soft stones, sunshine & rugged sea.
It is a symbol of the warmth & comfort that women take from the work of their hands.
Although I live in Scotland I have strong connections with Galway nowadays through my work and the fact that my daughter and granddaughters live there.
This version is worked in 2-ply Shetland Softspun, which I dyed with indigo and madder, any of their colourways will look splendid.
You can read more about the inspiration for this design on my weaving websiteLynn Gray Ross
where it is interpreted in weaving.
The pattern is ideal for beginners and as always you can contact me on our pattern website if you have any queries when you’re knitting it up.
