Scottish Lichen Shawl
This shawl is worked from the bottom up, with increases (via yarn over) on each row until the desired width and length are achieved. I used a ball winder to wind the skeins so that I could double up the yarns and knit two strands together (from the ball center and the ball end). This will bulk up the yarn as well as add some extra texture and color. In addition, in my version, I changed yarns at the beginning of an increase row when the mood struck, and carried the yarn ends using a method similar to carrying floats in Fair Isle knitting to avoid having to weave in a mess of ends at the end of the project.
And as a note to those that don’t know, “R1” stands for Row 1.
