No stitch marker, nothing to memorize. Just a sixteen-inch circular needle, a skein of yarn, and seed stitch. Simple a fun, Scowl is great for everyday winter wear.

For those who live in a climate with really cold winters: I tested this cowl in the winter of 2013-14 while working outside about a block from Lake Michigan. We know that some cowls are fashion accessories more than they are polar vortex shields. Scowl is your companion piece. Use it as a basic liner underneath another cowl or scarf. Extra long and knit at a tight gauge, it will scrunch and block the wind, even if you pull it up past your nose.

On sizing: This is sized to fit an average adult head, and will stretch to fit over most heads. If you are making the cowl smaller, larger, or in a different gauge, change the stitch count as needed. Any odd number of stitches worked in the round in (k1, p1) will yield seed stitch.
