Scrap Happy 8-Petal Floral Granny Square
This is a fun square to make, using up all your left over scrap yarn ball remnants. I originally designed this square for a client’s afghan and offset it, checkerboard style, with closed granny squares.
Each square uses a small amount of 4 different colored yarns. The stitches used are chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, extended double crochet, treble crochet and slip stitch. There is only the barest minimum of abbreviations in the pattern, as most of it is written in regular conversational English. So as long as you are familiar with crocheting the stitches mentioned, this pattern can be enjoyed by a beginner.
This pattern will work with any yarn, and the yarn thickness and hook size will determine the square size. The ones shown were made using worsted weight yarns with an I-9 hook, and measure 9 inches square.
