This pattern is available from etsy.com for $3.50.

This pattern includes instructions for 2 pillow sizes: 14” and 18” square.

This pattern also includes complete step-by-step entrelac instructions, including a schematic; this schematic is drawn for the smaller pillow size, but instructions are given to alter this for the larger size.

You need to know how to: Cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, increase, decrease, pick up stitches, bind off, single/double crochet (for edge trim).

The back of each pillow is made with 2 overlapping pieces, so there’s no need for zippers, buttons, or other closures (not fun to lie on!). These pieces are knitted diagonally in garter stitch.

YARN QUANTITY: The stated quantity is the range from the smaller pillow to the larger one; the smaller size requires about 360-400 yards total (in Scraplet Skeins), the larger uses 580-700.

IMPORTANT GAUGE NOTES: This pattern is written specifically for Knittique’s Scraplet Skeins; note that these yarns are being knitted at a much tighter gauge than usual, to provide coverage for the pillow form. Also note that the gauge given is approximate; this is due to the nature of Scraplet Skeins, which are made with multiple strands of yarns hand-tied into sections in each skein.

This pattern also works beautifully with heavy-worsted-weight yarns, such as Noro’s Kureyon, especially when combined with another strand such as a fine metallic, ladder, laceweight mohair, or other carry-along yarn. Look for a gauge as close to the stated gauge as possible; remember that you want your pillow cover to completely cover the pillow form.

Substitute yarn quantities: For the smaller pillow, I recommend no less than 350 yards; 400 would be safer, especially if you want to do multiple rows of crochet trim around the edges of your pillow. For the larger size, you’ll probably need 600-750 yards total. (I’m conservative about yardage!)

Keep in mind that these pillows are wonderful projects for using up your stash; you could use Scraplet Skeins for the top of your pillow, then incorporate leftover yarns for the pillow backs. Have fun!
