Welcome to my “Scrappy Christmas Gnome” pattern,

I created this little gnome for a bit of fun and to use up some of the left over yarn I had from past projects. Then I added a Christmas version for this one using festive colours to suits different Christmas colour themes. You can change the colours at any point, just remember to keep track of your row counts. You can even change colours mid row for added character. There is no sewing until you have to close the top and sew on your holly and berries. Otherwise you start at the bottom and work your way up. Make sure you make the nose first so it is ready to add as you crochet.

Other than that have fun and see how funky and festive you can make your Christmas gnome. The scrappier the better I say.

Finished Size: Varies depending on the yarn you use. 10 Ply works up to be approximately 24cm tall.

You’ll need:

• Hook size recommendations - 10ply 4mm, 8ply 2.5 to 3mm, 5ply 2 to 2.75mm.

• Wadding / stuffing, yarn needle, 500gms of weighted material such as jasmine rice, fish tank rocks or buckwheat (less for smaller gnomes using yarn that is a lighter ply), organza bags x 2 that are about 12cm x 18cm in size (this is to hold the weighted material together and stop it from spilling out).

Yarn – For the Christmas version I used Fiddlesticks Finch 10ply cotton 71gms / 109m per ball. 3 balls, each one a different colour.
