Scrappy Shawl
This garter stitch and lace shawl is a good way to use up varying amounts of sock or fingering weight yarn left over from other projects. It is knit in sections that are joined by lace panels. The size of the shawl can be adjusted in several places without significantly affecting the way the following sections are worked. The stitch counts given at the end of each section are for convenience if you wish to follow the pattern exactly. Counts will, of course, vary if you make any changes. However, an exact stitch count is not essential to any of the steps in the pattern.
