Scrappy Triangles
Get ready to use up all your scraps! All the little scraps of wonderful - your leftovers from projects, mini skeins and yarn swaps - they can all come to life in Scrappy Triangles! Use as few or as many colors as you like; make repetitive stripes and triangles, or paint randomly with your yarn – Scrappy Triangles is your canvas.
This pattern is written for a 24 st x 34 rnds gauge and is a variation of my original Scrappy Striber. I have added a chart for playful little triangles in the stripes, and this pattern is tested with both long and short sleeves.
Sizes
1-2 (3-4-5) 6-7-8 (9)
Measurements on finished garment
Chest circumference: 85-95 (100-110-120) 125-134-140 (150) cm / 33.5-37.4 (39.4-43.3-47.2) 49.2-53.1-55.1) 59 inches
Body length: 51-51 (53.5-53.5-53.5) 56-56-56 (56) cm / 20-20 (21-21-21) 22-22-22) 22 inches
Fit
Scrappy Triangles is intended to be worn with 0-5 cm / 0-2 inches ease.
It is easy to adjust the length of both body and sleeves, but that will of course affect the yardage. If you are lengthening the sweater, you will get the best result by adding full stripes.
Yardage
900-1000 (1200-1250-1275) 1400-1500-1580 (1620) meters fingering weight yarn.
Yardage is estimated and may vary between knitters!
The sample is shown in sock yarn from A Knitters World; colorways Men in Black, Shadow, Flowers in my Garden and Dalmatiner: https://www.aknittersworld.dk/
Suggested needles
3.25 mm (US3) circular 60 or 80 cm / 24 or 31 inches, using magic loop where needed.
2.75 mm (US2) circular 60 or 80 cm / 24 or 31 inches, using magic loop where needed.
Gauge
24 stitches x 34 rounds in stockinette stitch on larger needle = 10x10 cm (4x4 inches)
Note: Needle size is just a suggestion. Adjust needle size if needed to obtain gauge! Pay extra attention to your gauge when working flat – you may need to go down a needle size on the purl rows, as many knitters will have a looser gauge when purling compared to knitting. Also be mindful of gauge when doing the colorwork section, where many knitters tend to get a tighter gauge. The same thing can happen in small circumference knitting (on sleeves). If this happens to you, you will have to up a needle size!
