Overview
This pattern assumes the knitter has experience with two-color brioche knitting using increases and decreases. If you’ve never worked brioche, visit Nancy Marchant’s website, briochestitch.com for instructions. Her books are fabulous too!

Sizes: Sample is 11 x 72”. The width and length of this project are up to you.

• Four pattern repeats (11” / 28 cm wide) = 107 stitches
• Six pattern repeats (16.5” / 42 cm wide) = 159 stitches
• Eight pattern repeats (22” / 56 cm wide) = 211 stitches

Yarn: Fingering weight or any yarn and appropriate needle size. Estimated yardage:

• 11 x 72” = 370g/1600 yds/1463m
• 16.5 x 72” = 550g/2340 yds/2140m
• 22 x 72” = 740g/3125 yds/2860m

Needles: 2.75 mm or 3 mm circular needles with fingering yarn, or size that gives you the fabric you like.

Construction: This rectangular scarf/wrap is worked back and forth across the width of the piece on circular needles. Stitches will need to be slid along the needles in order to start the next color at the same position as the last color on some rows. If you like, seam the ends together for a cowl (and add a twist for a moebius loop with no right or wrong side). 

Color choices: Aim for contrast between the yarns being used. Try using the same two yarns for an entire four-section sequence, to give each color a chance to shine on both the front and back of the work (but I broke that rule several times in the sample). You may wish to use a gradient or color-changing yarn for its entire length and pair it with a variety of other colors as you go. Dyed sock blanks provide unexpected pops and patterns. Multi-colored yarns can be paired with solids.
