Screech Owl Mittens
I love screech owls and made this pattern to complement the Convertible Owl Mittens I designed for toddlers. Directions are given for several variations. You could make this as a toy for an infant or small child by stuffing it and sewing the bottom closed.
Since this is worsted weight, it knits up super fast (only 50 stitches around). It is also very squishy and warm. I image this with heathered, tonal, and lightly variegated yarns. It takes less than half a skein of Cascade 220 for each color. I knit very tightly, so my gauge just gives you an idea of what needle size might fit your hands.
To make this convertible for a grown up, the directions in the free Convertible Owl Mittens could easily be used for the grown version.
I’m very taken with owls right now and am percolating more variations…
