The Last week of July, 2011 a customer sent me a photo of a pair of socks that she wanted to have knitted for her. It was an interesting project in that I had never really gotten an order like that. I tried looking for the pattern and asked the question to the different chat rooms I belong to…but never got an answer so…I decided to try to duplicate the pattern from what I saw in the photo.

This has been quite the challenge…and I guess the real challenge was finding the correct yarn (Cotton) and weight that could carry the look. Then there was the size and gauge of knitting. I tried #2 needles and ended up with #3. The Yarn was a cotton sports yarn from Knit Picks (Comfy Sport). I knitted an example for a customer and she liked what I did. So I proceeded to do the job. I did add a little elastic thread to the cuff for a more stable fit and did alter the first sample I did to make sure it would fit the customer’s dimensions. I have since eliminated the elastic thread as the yarn was perfect for the look and fit.

There are 2 graphs to follow as this sock is designed with a side cable pattern as well as a front and back pattern. It is challenging. You will need #2 and #3 dpn, stitch counters and stitch markers. I have knitted about 12 pairs of these and have only gotten wonderful reviews on them so decided to put the pattern down on paper. It has taken a long time to do this as it is complicated and challenging. But if you are the type of knitter that loves cables and counting…this is the one for you.

I think it all worked out really great and hope that whoever tries this pattern that they will post it so I can see the results! Very nice scrunch look and cozy comfy
