Sculptured Waves Blanket
This pattern won an award at the Australian Wool and Sheep show 2023 for Most Innovative Entry when it was made as a scarf in White Gum Wool superfine merino yarn. It was originally designed as a baby blanket for a friend’s new baby daughter made with 400g of sock yarn. It is a series of blocks of 12 rows each with a 12 stitch repeat that make textured wave patterns. Each of the six blocks has slightly different wave sizes starting with small waves.
The scarf was made 36 stitches wide and blanket described in the pattern is 144 stitches wide. The repeatable nature of this design means it can easily be made wider or narrower and shorter or longer.
This pattern is the latest and most refined edition of Sculptured Waves series. They are supported by videos on YouTube and have been tested in workshops and individual testers. They use front loop stitches and are recommended for experienced and advanced crocheters.
The patterns works best in wool and other yarns that have a memory effect.
