Scythe Hood Scarf
The Scythe Hood Scarf is worked flat from the middle of the hood to the tip of the scarf. No seaming is required! First you cast on and knit top-down the left half. Then you pick up along the cast on edge and knit top-down the right half. Pattern is worked flat in garter stitch with a built-in double-knit band along the front edge and a built-in i-cord along the back edge. Shaping is done with increases and decreases.
The Scythe Hood Scarf is named for the curved edge achieved with shaping. The finished object does NOT lay completely flat, as it is designed to curve around your head and neck. The double-knit front edge gives a clean finish and a comfortable feel around the neck. The pattern was designed as a worsted weight stashbuster project!

A yarn w/ wool content is suggested to have the scarf curve correctly
The sample in photos is size XS, knitted on 5.0mm and uses Simply Wool Worsted in the shade Wanda, hand-dyed using Jacquard Acid dyes in Lilac, Gun Metal, and Silver Grey.
The second sample is in size S, knitted on 4.5mm with Sandnes Peer Gynt in the color 4255.
I am knitting a third sample using HALF FISHERMANS RIB (I wanted to switch it up and it has a similar gauge to garter stitch), size S, knitted on 4.5mm with Estelle Highland Alpaca DK. Once complete I’ll send out a pattern update for a half fishermans rib variation :)
