Sea and Sun Skirt
DESCRIPTION
A modern take on a classic dirndl, and our nod to the skirt that’s both stylish and comfy to wear! The Sea and Sun Skirt works wonderfully with your favorite tank top, oversized sweater, or even over your favorite body-con dress!
The Sea and Sun Skirt is a full skirt that ties tightly at the back of the waist thanks to a strategically overlapped slit. The slit allows you to slip the skirt over your hips, while the overlapping fabric and ties will ensure there’s minimal peek-through.
This is a great pattern for you if:
- You like practical but pretty garments.
- You want to add a knit skirt to your handmade wardrobe.
- You enjoy versatile garments that can be modified, worn, & styled many ways.
The Sea and Sun LookBook is included with your purchase! Use the LookBook to find your perfect size, choose mods, and for inspiration!

NEEDLES
Waistband Needle: US3 (3.25 mm) - circular needles.*
Skirt Needle: US5 (3.75 mm) - circular needles.
Or size needed to obtain gauge! Don’t forget to swatch!
An additional needle is needed to begin knitting in the round but size does not matter as it will only be used briefly to hold 8 sts. Straight/Circular/DPN will all work just fine.
GAUGE
Stockinette: 22 sts & 30 rows in 4”/10 cm - worked in the round.
2x1 Ribbing: 18 sts & 36 rows in 4”/10 cm - worked flat and stretched horizontally as far as the fabric will allow.
Gauge is incredibly important for the 2x1 ribbing, make sure to swatch and meet gauge!
Note: working out of gauge may alter yardage and finished measurements.
