Sea Fever
This afghan block comes in two sizes - a smaller single-coloured version and a larger multi-coloured square. Both are heavily textured and interesting to crochet as every round is different. A separate set of instructions for each one allows for a smooth transition between rounds in both cases, for the neatest possible result. There are 11 pages with clear photographic illustrations for every round.
The colours of the larger square reflect the the shoreline on a hot summer’s day, and the stitch patterns hint at lapping surf, shells, ropes, driftwood… we can dream!
Two different sofa throws and a tote bag are shown as examples of what you could make with these squares. For the bag I used the ideas outlined in the Jackfield Tile pattern, available here.
Please note: this pattern is for the individual blocks only - making-up instructions are not included and sizes may need to be adjusted if mixing them in a project, so that they fit together.
Both designs have been thoroughly tested and approved by Shadow and Tinker!
(Heartfelt thanks as always to my real testers: Ellen, Mia-Liv and Margie.)
Materials used:
for the multi-coloured square - Stylecraft Special DK in camel, warm grey, mocha, walnut, duck egg and cream.
for the single-coloured square (rainbow blanket) - Sirdar Happy Colours cotton DK.
