Sea Glass Socks
Skill Level: Intermediate
These lacy, airy socks are worked from the cuff down, using one 400 yard hank of 80/20 superwash merino/nylon sock yarn. (Yarn used in the photo is a hand dyed yarn by Elissa Crouch). Yarn is very similar to Yarn Enabler’s Gradient Dyed Fingering. Feminine and fun with self-striping, hand-dyed yarn, they are soft and oh so pretty. They combine just the right amount of openwork to be delicate yet contain enough stockinette background for comfort. Be sure to measure your gauge on a swatch that has been washed & blocked since superwash yarns tend to expand in water.
One size is written for a S/M foot, using a size 0 dpn.
For larger M/L size, follow the same directions, but use a size 1 dpn, or size needed to obtain gauge as listed for larger size.
Gauge for S/M size: 38 sts & 52 rows = 4”/10cm over st st
Gauge for M/L size: 34 sts & 48 rows = 4”/10cm over st st
Materials:
Yarn: Any 2 ply fingering weight yarn (80% superwash merino & 20% nylon) 400 yards/100 grams. 1 hank. Experiment with the many hand-dyed yarns for a truly unique sock!
Needles: For Size S/M = US Size 0 double pointed needles
For Size M/L = US Size 1 double pointed needles
Or size needed to obtain gauge
If you are a tight knitter, you may find metal dpn much easier to work with.
