For us Deep South-ers, a decent beach is always just a hop, skip, and a jump away. Our lovely little shawlette is meant to evoke these beaches, and the sea grasses that dot the shore, protecting fragile shoreline ecosystems but also looking just beautiful. You start with a spiraling, almost nautilus-like, stockinette tip, then work in stripes (like waves in the sand), and then end with a fabulous stranded colorwork section that also features slipped stitches worked up from rows below. What Southern knitter could ask for more?
Yarn: 1 skein each of Lorna’s Laces Sportmate (70% Superwash Merino, 30% Outlast viscose, 270 yds/100g)
in (A)“Bayou McNeedles” and contrasting color (B)“Fjord”
Needles: US 5 24” circular
Gauge: 20 stitches and 30 rows over 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Finished Measurements: 22” x 60” Options are included to add more size to the shawl.
