❤️ Sea Lavender, is a genus of about 120 species in the family Plumaginaceae, native to the
Mediterranean region and central Asia.
❤️ The scientific name comes from the Greek word “leimon” meaning “a meadow” in reference to
the plant’s original habitat.
❤️ Sea Lavenders grow in sand along the beaches. commonly found in salt marshes, and rocky,
desert, or coastal habitats.
❤️ The plant has been used in herbal remedies to treat diarrhea, chronic gonorrhea, gleet,
leucorrhoea, chronic dysentery, atonic dyspepsia, pulmonary hemorrhage, chronic laryngitis and
bronchorrhea.
❤️ The most attractive colorful part is not the flower… it is actually the calyx! How interesting!
❤️ Sea-lavender’ is also known as marsh-rosemary, caspia, and statice, and also misty. These names may only refer to certain species of the plant.
