This scarf is a perfect approach to Orenburg style lace knitting because it is done in the traditional way but it is a not too big project.
It is worked in garter stitch lace, part of it has both right and wrong side patterned rows and side edges are worked at the same time as the body of the scarf.
The work starts at the bottom edge , the corners are mitered and there is a minimal grafting at the end of the work
It is a fun project to knit, the PDF contains step by step directions and a photo tutorial on how to miter the corners and to graft stitches the Russian way.
I’d suggest to avoid multicolored yarn which would obscure the pattern.

The motifs of this scarf make me think of water lilies, so I called it Sea of Azov, a Russian sea where water lilies grow.

My sincerest big thanks go to Ravelrers cindersall and seaglass, great knitters who very patiently did work with me in all the phases of this design
