The orca is a symbol of strong family and community. It is sometimes called “killer whale” because ancient sailors saw it attacking whales. But the orca is actually not a whale. It is more similar to a dolphin! Each orca group has its own culture. Even their “language” can differ between groups. I was surprised to find out how similar the orca is to humans! The female usually births around five calves in her lifetime and she goes through menopause, unlike most other mammals.
Enjoy making this double knit Sea Orca Potholder featuring its striking black and white coloring. If you’re unfamiliar with double knitting, this small potholder is a great way to learn this knitting technique. Both sides are the same, except with reversed colors. You’ll get the accomplishment of finishing a beautiful project and the confidence of adding a new skill to your knitting basket.
With this instantly downloadable PDF pattern, you’ll have all the help you need to get started!
