I was so inspired after my trip to South Florida and Everglades National Park, that I just had to design a sea turtle applique/motif to commemorate the journey!

The entire applique/motif is made up of individual components (including the shell). Those are then put together to create the finished product.

The crocheter tackling this project should be familiar with a variety of techniques including working in the round, short rows and joining motifs. An intermediate crocheter should be able to handle this project with no problem.

Although I recommend thread for this pattern, it works equally well in a larger yarn. Just be aware that using weightier yarn makes a larger turtle.
