‘A hat designed for double-knitting wool in a wavy cable inspired by an original 1940s Golden Eagle knitting pattern’

An ideal beginner knit, the pattern is available exclusively on the Smart Knit It app and includes both charted and written instructions and access to video tutorials and blogs on stitches and techniques used in the pattern.

MATERIALS
100g of double-knitting wool (pictured in Stylecraft Life DK in ‘rose’)
A pair of 3.75mm and a pair of 4mm knitting needles
A cable needle (a 3.75mm knitting needle can be used instead)
A tapestry needle
(optional) a pompom maker

TENSION
22 stitches and 28 rows over 10cm square using 4mm knitting needles and stocking-stitch

TECHNIQUES
Casting on, Casting off, Stretchy rib cast on method (photo-illustrated technique), cables, knit and purl stitches and K1, P1 rib.
