Seabreeze Hat
Introducing the Seabreeze hat - I live in a seaside town, but unfortunately, rather than sunshine and golden beaches, it’s more wind, rain and grassy dunes!
Inspired by the waves in the sea, and the gentle, or sometimes very strong, winds that blow through the town, the Seabreeze hat was born!
The Seabreeze hat is knitted in one flat piece using an easy to remember cable pattern, making it an easy and mindful knit for beginners and more experienced knitters alike.
You begin with the rib section, work the cable pattern for the main part of the hat, and then start the decreases for the crown shaping. Once finished knitting, the hat is sewn up down the centre back using mattress stitch, creating a neat seam on the inside. Finally, your choice of your own handmade pompom, a ready made pompom, or simply no pompom at all!
The Seabreeze hat is designed to fit a 58.5cm/ 23” head, using around 10% of negative ease to keep it snug. I have knitted beautiful hats before that then haven’t fitted me, so this hat is especially for those with a slightly larger head, or if you prefer a slouchy fit.
Knitted in an Aran/ Worsted weight yarn, this cosy warm hat is perfect for long walks on a windy beach.
