Seahorses are amazing creatures. With their unique shape, they look like smalls swimming horses. Their snout allows them to aspirate their food, like a straw. But the most interesting characteristic is their reproduction mode. Unlike most fish, it is the males who carry the eggs and give birth to the babies. After mating, the female deposits her eggs in a pouch located on the male’s belly. The male fertilizes them and guards them until they hatch, and then release the young seahorses already formed.
With this pattern, you can have fun crocheting a whole family of seahorses: dad with his pocket, mom and dozens of babies, each one cuter than the other.
