These Mary Jane’s are knitted seamlessly from the bottom up on magic loop or two circulars. You can use Judy’s Magic Cast On for a completely seamless slipper or a long tail cast on and just seam the sole before felting. The strap is knitted and felted separately and then sewn on to allow for adjustment to foot and button size.

The slipper uppers are formed with short rows and simple decreases. Full instructions, with pictures where necessary, are given for any part of the pattern where I thought it would be helpful including the finishing of the strap and sewing on of the buttons.

Knit in one colour or two, they make a pretty slipper which is slightly flatter and more foot forming than the Duffers pattern.

A quick knit, all pretty straightforward, these take no time at all to make, even the strap which looks a little like a cross between I-cord and a braid will only take minutes to knit.

The pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter who has some experience of working with two circulars or magic loop. Simple increases/decreases and short rows are used but explanations are given.

The pattern covers a standard women’s foot circumference of approximately 20 to 22 cm /8 to 9 inches
in finished foot lengths of 21.5 23, 24, 25.5, 26.5, 28 cm / 8 1/2, 9, 9 1/2, 10, 10 1/2, 11 inches.
These are all shoe sizes between approximately 2-10 UK / 3-13 US / 33-45 EUR

I have sized these slippers to work with a plied worsted weight yarn held double at the gauge given. They take about an hour at 50 deg C / 122 deg F to felt. All yarns felt differently. If you are not sure how your chosen yarn felts it is best to felt the slippers a little at a time until you reach the size you need.
