When I first started knitting scrunchies I followed the many tutorials and patterns available online which all involved knitting on either straight or circular needles and seaming around a hair tie. Although this worked fine, I wanted to find a way to create a scrunchie with as little seaming as possible for a sleeker look, so I created a pattern using Double Pointed Needles and the invisible seaming method. If you have never used DPNs before, this is an ideal beginner pattern as it is very simple, just knit stitches with no increases, decreases or shaping involved.

Materials/Tools Needed:
25g chunky (bulky) yarn
Set of four 6mm (US size 10) Double Pointed Needles
5mm strip elastic (you can use rubber or sewing elastic but I find rubber elastic gives more stretch) approx. 35 cm
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker

Conversion chart included for different yarn weight and needle sizes.
