Lace pattern “SEASIDE”: full-perimeter filet crochet edging for a tablecloth, vintage style beauty, US terms.

Following this pattern you’ll be able to crochet simple beautiful lace with motives of breaking waves and diamond mesh.
I’ve designed and crocheted this model in 1998, reworked in 2023, still have the old tablecloth so you can see it on images.

PLEASE, NOTE that by buying this product you are not getting a lace, but a 1 PDF file: there you will find a written pattern instruction (with abbreviations), detailed crochet diagram drawing (showing all stitches) and explaining (with images) of some difficult parts of the work.
Pages 1-5 and 7-10 are ready to print on an A4 size of paper; page 6 (crochet diagram drawing) - on an A3.

Also you’ll get the bonus on the 2nd PDF file: my photo tutorial “ATTACHING FABRIC TO THE CROCHET LACE”.

AVAILABLE SIZES AND DIMENSIONS:
Full-perimeter lace edging. Complex polygon shape with repeating motives and rectangle center hole (to insert a woven fabric).

  • Dimension of the finished lace “SEASIDE 20x10”, measured after delicate hand wash, blocking and steam ironing: exterior width x length - 53 x 103 cm (20 55/64 x 40 35/64 in); interior width x length - 42 x 92 cm (16 17/32 x 36 7/32 in).
  • Calculated approximately dimension of the lace “SEASIDE 4x6”: exterior width x length - 23 x 33 cm (9 1/16 x 12 63/64 in); interior width x length - 12 x 22 cm (4 23/32 x 8 21/32 in).
    NOTE: you can certainly make this lace for a square tablecloth - just repeat the Motive SS1 the same number of times on all sides of the perimeter.

SKILL LEVEL:
Intermediate. You must know 3dc filet crochet technique; basic crochet stitches and some advanced stitches: chain stitch, diamond mesh, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, double crochet stitches worked together.
For the best quality you need some experience to provide same crochet tension for each stitch. This is important not only for my pattern but for any other too. Also you must have some sewing skills to attach the fabric to the lace (or collaborate with your friend who loves to sew).

MATERIALS:
Yarn - Adriafil Doppio Ritorto 12/3=8, 1 hardcore ball - 700 m/100 g (766 yd/ 3 1/2 oz), 100 % cotton, color shade 11 (cream);

  • used amount for “SEASIDE 10x20” - 55 g (1.94 oz);
  • calculated amount for “SEASIDE 4x6”- 17 g (0.60 oz).
