Gauge: 5.5 stitches per inch / 9.5 stitches per 4 cm
Needles: dpns US size 2
Yarn: 60 grams worsted weight wool, I recommend a variegated color to help hide the gusset stitches
Stitch markers: optional, to help mark the thumb gusset stitches
Difficulty: intermediate.

The thumb gusset uses simple Make 1 right / make 1 left type increases. Which side you pick up the stitch from will depend on where you are in the pattern, I’ve added explanation for this.

For the bind-off I recommend Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off, which produces a nice clean edge without compromising on slouchy comfort.
