Seaside Stole
Nova Scotia is known as Canada’s Ocean Playground, and I wanted to create a playful shawl to pay homage to that. The simple rectangular construction of the wrap, paired with the soothing chevron waves, makes an almost meditative knit, interspersed with delicate lace panels – the equivalent of waves lapping against the shore while you dive in.
Suggested Yarn:
Natural Ewe Yarns’ Echo Merino was used to knit the sample.
You will need:
MC = 150g 600m / 656yd total
CC = 2x 50g or minis (4 x 25g) 400m / 437 yd total
This shawl can be knit using two full skeins (MC) paired with a Mini Skein Set(CC), or 2 full skeins (MC) paired with a Mismatched Sock Set (CC), or by using one of our Natural Gradient Sets (5 x 50g = 1000m).
Needles:
US5/ 3.75mm needles
Gauge:
22sts over 30 rows = 4”/10cm in biased stockinette after blocking
Finished size:
62”/158cm long by 20”/51cm wide after blocking
Skill Level:
Intermediate
I hope you enjoy knitting this shawl as much as I enjoyed designing it. Share your progress with the hashtags #SeasideStole and #NaturalEweYarns we love to see your knits!
ERRATA: First line of “Set up & First Chevron” reads CO 111 sts. It should read CO 103.
