Seasonal Cranberries
My friend Beth insisted I create a pattern for Cranberries this season!… She said the world pays too much attention to Pumpkins in autumn and not enough to Cranberries. Though I didn’t quite understand her excitement about the situation, I agreed with her and began designing.
Now she decorates her home with gorgeous holiday cranberries like these… through fall and through winter. And I’ve got a basket of them on display at home, myself. This is the pattern I came up with…
And btw… who doesn’t love a SUPER QUICK KNIT project!?!?
As seen in the pictures, there are 2 styles of Cranberries here. One with traditional yarn, and the other with added sparkle. For the plain cranberries use Malabrigo Rios yarn and size US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, and follow the instructions under “Worsted Yarn Only.” For the reflective cranberries use the Malabrigo AND the Gold Rush yarn together with size US 6 (4.0 mm) needles and follow the instructions under “Worsted Yarn plus Gold Rush.” They should produce the same sized cranberries.
The gage info listed above is for the single worsted Malabrigo Rios yarn on size 5 needles. The gage for the combined yarns worked on size 6 needles is a little larger. That’s why you’ll use 2 separate patterns in order to get the same size cranberries. The mix of metallic and matte together here is really pretty. I really like it.
This pattern is worked in the round on double pointed needles or a 32” circular needle 2-3 sizes smaller than what’s recommended buy your yarn. See video on YouTube for Jeremy’s Star Cast On.
