Seasons Shawlette
The seasonal ditty, “April showers bring May flowers,” is depicted in this allegorical shawl, as eyelet “rain” falls upon clusters of lace “flowers,” taken from the classic Rose Trellis pattern. Knit in pink for breast cancer awareness, this shawl represents, in a humble way, parts of my breast cancer journey, which you can read more about in the pattern. Between 2010-2012, sales from this pattern raised over $600 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure (www.komen.org), to support breast cancer research.
The pattern provides both written and charted instructions and is suitable for knitters with some experience (advanced beginner/intermediate level). A heavy fingering or sportweight yarn will result in a cute shawlette; using a worsted weight yarn will give a fuller-sized shawl. However, any size yarn can be used, just note that size and yardage will vary.
Sample Sizes:
Heavy fingering/sportweight version: 340 yds, 48” x 20” (shown in madelinetosh Pashmina, modeled on CatReading)
DK/worsted weight version: 450 yds, 60” x 30”
(shown in tosh Vintage, modeled on dress form)
7/2/10 Pattern updated to have brief instructions for adding more eyelet lace repeats, if you would like a larger piece that would require an estimated 25-30% more yarn. The instructions are located at the end of the pattern.

I have created a fund page at komen.org in honor of my mother, who is also a breast cancer survivor. If you would like to make an additional donation to Susan G. Komen, you may do so at the RosyPosy Designs: Knitting for the Cure fund page. Or, if you or someone you know have been touched by breast cancer, you may create your own fund page at the site.
