Seaton Beach
Before I started this design all I knew was that I wanted a poncho that would sit well on me as a wheelchair user, while also being a stylish and chic poncho for everyone. The result is a square poncho with a contrasting detail around the lower edge that is repeated on the cowl neck.
The poncho is knit from the top down, which allows you to try it on as you go. Stitches are picked up from around the neck to make the large cowl neck.
Knit in a bulky yarn this is a quick knit which provides a warm cover-up that is easy to slip on and off. This design grows in length and size, so the poncho can be made bigger or smaller by knitting more or less rounds.
There is the option to have a more fitted collar or by increasing the number of stitches you can achieve a more floppy cowl look – both options are included in the pattern.
The Poncho requires 600grams of Bulky weight yarn and is knit on 6.5mm needles
I wrote up the pattern as I knit the original hopefully I have remembered everything - but please let me know if something doesn’t make sense….
