Seattle Mosaic Hat
While it’s rarely cold enough to get really bundled up, we Seattleites do appreciate a cozy wool hat to cut the chill of windy, rainy, winter days. Use bits of left over yarn, or a Blue Sky Fibers 21 Color hat kit to make this cool hat pattern!
Yarn: Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok “21 Color Hat Kit” (or 5-10 g each of 21 colors in worsted weight yarn).
Size/Needles/Gauge: Because of the limitations of the yarn included in the kit, sizes are adjusted by using different needles, rather than changing the stitch count. Use 16” circular needles and DPNs.
All measurements are of the hat unstretched. Hat has 1-2” positive ease, but mosaic sts make it a tighter fabric than hats knit in stockinette. Row Gauge: 34 rows over 4 inches on size 7-9 needles.
Teen – 19” circumference, 8” tall (18.5 sts over 4 inches on size 7 4.5 mm needles)
Adult – 20” circumference, 8” tall (17.5 sts over 4 inches, on size 8 5.0 mm needles)
XL Adult – 21” circumference, 8” tall (16.75 sts over 4 inches, on size 9 5.5 mm needles)
