Seattle Rain
In Seattle we are known for our wet weather. Rain drops not only fall from the sky, but from every convenient overhang, including leafy spring trees. The cables on this hat are reminiscent of rain drops running down your window panes.
The yarn for the hat is Color Dance Yarns “Tap Dance”, but I also worked up a sample in Color Dance Yarns “Moonwalk” and Color Dance Yarns “Footwear”. Tap Dance is a springy, bouncy, 2-ply superwash merino wool.
The hat is worked from the top down. Using Judy’s Magic Cast On to start helps keep a nice neat beginning, but you can use your cast on of choice. You may work on the traditional double pointed needles or use magic loop or two circulars.
Lovely eyelets in a spiral swirl grace the top of the hat, with tiny, 2-stitch cables crossing each other down to the brim. The hat is not hard to knit, but you do need to pay attention to placing the marker at the beginning of each round.
Have fun making Amanda’s Seattle Rain!
ERRATA: Rnd 23 of the cable pattern should read:
Rnd 23: P1(RT, P4, LT, P2) end with LT, pm.
